DAF and MAN G/box are the same Iveco and Renault use it also. What differs is the Hardware/Software that controls it, ZF supplies the G/box the OEM then has to supply the rest (Shift/Clutch Booster etc) and then wire it into its own CAN system. Both Volvo and ZF box's were developed as constant mesh SAMT box's whereas the Scania system is just a cheap and crude attempt at fitting an automated shift system to a conventional syncro box,

Well i don't know why but i find it really harder to reverse a daf auto than a man auto, which is the principal reason i don't like daf autos as its just too damn sensitive. Maybe you could help me out by shedding some light on this matter (if man and daf share autos) why can i never get along with a daf auto on reverse I do know that the I-Shift was superb when i was delivering some concrete in the middle of a housing estate and i never felt out of control despite the fact it was raining hard.

Ironic that the box in the MAN and DAF are the same! I-shift is clearly the best system out there at this moment.

Well i have had first hand experience of using one in a R620 for 3 weeks and when i got the R500 manual i much prefered driving that model. I don't personally have any issues with Scania apart from the opticruise, the only autos ive enjoyed driving with the I-Shifts. Man autos in my opinion are quite good as well and the daf auto is really really poor for reversing. I just wish scania (and Daf)had developed a better auto box, as Volvo has shown what a masterpiece the I-Shift really is.
