Durning WWII this song was actually a big hit in Germany. Officials in the the Nazi Government thought the title was a dialect of Plat Deutsch(Low German). But once it became common knowledge that it was actually Yiddish, the song was banned.Ultimately I guess the joke was on them.Still a great song.

How did Patty Andrews know you? That's pretty cool! My sympathies on your loss. My grandpa, who served in WWII died just a week ago today. I want to play Andrews Sisters music in his honor. I think these ladies were the epitome of music in WW II don't you think?

My only sibling, my beautiful sister, died on July 4th of this year. Patty Andrews actually sent me a sympathy card...I still can hardly believe it.Wayne In Texas.

The Pointer Sisters were greatly influenced by the Andrews Sisters, if you listen to some of their earlier works from the 1970s. |
