A spontaneous reaction from Tardelli to quite simply a brilliant goal.With the BBC's John Motson commentating as excitedly as the goal itself we can let it linger in the memory and to be honest, Italy had actually a great side then.

the 2 goals werent exactly the same but they were similar,the positioning, the way they both hammered it into the corner of the net. And about lippi "making" the team watch the 1982 final...that just sounds really unrealistic. (Besides im sure they were already familiar with tardellis famous goal) That moment was probably the biggest moment of grosso's football career(besides winning the cup in the final). The shaking of his head was simply because he was in disbelief.

i dont think he tried to copy him. It was a wonderful moment. He scored a last minute goal that saw them through to the finals. When ur in the heat of the moment in that sort of situation, ur not thinking about immitating anyone, u just do what u feel. I think it was very touching that both celebrations were so similar, also the fact that both goals were similar as well. The fact that it wasnt intentional was what made it special. Almost like a part of history was brought back for a short moment

Grosso tried to copy Tardelli's celebration but ended up doing a Stevie Wonder impersonation (shaking his head left and right) and just looked like a plonker.
