exactly, contrary to popular belief, marriage existed before the start of Christianity

And this is exactly why I will not be voting for him. 'Gay marriage isn't right because I don't believe it is' simply is not a good enough explanation of why I can't have the same rights as anyone else.

Anyone who thinks that civil union is equal to marriage needs to check the federal laws.Besides, the Supreme Court decided years ago that "seperate, but equal" was bullshit!

The fact is there is an origin and meaning of a word and that is how it is defined not from flippant misinterpretations. So one certainly can be a hypocrite if they are non religious yet desire to partake in the religious ceremony of marriage. If I was an atheist I would be embarrassed to go against my belief and get married. If I was an atheist I would not even consider marriage.

People saying that it isn't religious and the Government applying it non religiously does not actually change what marriage really is. You frivolously say things like there is no copyright on words but that does not mean a word can be changed at will and is a valid change. If that were the case then any word can have any meaning to any person and we would not be able to speak and understand each other.

I didn't say that I agreed with civil ceremony marriages for those who aren't Jewish or Christian but I have my opinion and I don't have much control over those laws just as same sex marriage will probably be completely legal at some point despite the hypocrisy or my opinions. I say strictly religious in that that is the origin that is what its purpose was regardless of perversions of it and that is the truth. |
