Ok. Whatever. Heck, maybe I am not normal or literate. Why should you care? I am not sure why you should get upset over a comment that I made. My opinion is still the same. Most of us old school cricketers still think that it has become a wussy sport. All cricket is about is making money and lots of it as quickly as they can.

Under absolutely no circumstances would a normal, literate human being draw from my comments the conclusion you did. Nowhere did I suggest cricket players in those days were infantile. I was pointing out that as time has progressed so has the professionalism and commercialisation of the sport thereby forcing teams to slowly devise ways to limit injuries rather than appeal to people like you by putting there players in harms way. The only person making disparaging remarks is yourself.

Maybe. I grew up in the sixties and seventies watching cricket being played and also playing cricket without all the "fortress" type material on our bodies. Reflex is an absolute must and you soon learn how to sway out of the way. If you don't have it don't play the game. Are you telling me that back then they didn't know what cricket was about? Are you telling me that they were infantile, schoolboy cricketers who wanted to appear tough and foolish?

Akthar is a great bowler. Sure he has made a few mistakes but that doesn't mean he isn't a great bowler.

It's designed to preserve the players. It costs money to have players injured and sitting out with broken bones, severe bruising et al. It has nothing to do with being "wussy" it's good team management. Modern cricket teams prefer to have their best team on the field every time rather than appeal to a infantile, schoolboy ideal of being "tough" and foolishly wearing no protection. It isn't what cricket is about.

It was not the norm. It is only in the 1980s that cricket started turning into a wussy sport. The players look like American Football players nowadays with helmets and arm guards and every other guard you can imagine. It is stupid.
