This is so awesome! When was this from? The guitar sounds terrific. My Uncle used to play the guitar and sing at family gatherings and this was always one of his staples. As a kid it was a bit quirky - I guess I just didn't understand.

HI,Jimmie Rodgers is my father.He plays to an open tuning. It is amazing the sounds and variations that he gets from his playing. Strong rythm playing as well as a beautiful voicing on his picking style. For his record of Kisses Sweeter Than Wine he tunes to an E minor.. Thaks for your interest in his work.Michael Rodgers

His guitar is tuned non-standard to what is called "open-E" tuning. If he strummed the guitar without placing his left hand on the neck, he would be playing an E chord. By him "barring" all 6 strings at the 3rd fret, he is playing a G chord, the 8th fret a C chord, and at the 10th fret a D chord. In the middle of the song, he modulates to the key of A flat, which is why he moves his left hand positioning down the neck one more fret for each chord he played. Dolly Parton plays the same style.
