Northrop did (to a certain extend) back in the early-mid 1980s. It was called the F-20 Tigershark. Only 3 prototypes were made.

SU-35 and MiG-35 owns the sky now !Eurofighter Typhoon, F-16, F-15 and F/A-18 are third class garbage now !In 2009 new 5th generation super multirole stealth SUKHOI PAK-FA will be No. 1 !

Nice,really.For me,the f-5 tiger comes directly after the f-14 tomcat.Both are fast,twin engined and cool.Like this vid.
