They have a "nylon pickup" but it's not a pick-up, it's a mic inside the box of the guitar, sometimes two ecm-type mics with a stereo tailpiece. But a good mic on a stand can pick up all the wonderful acoustics. This is a great effort by Cooder and his band, tremendous improvization by the trombonist especially don't you think? Piano style is wierd tho.
