Yusef Lateef's version is the standard in my humble opinion. It captures the essence of the movie and the lyric. The rest aree good interpretations but not my fave.

Sorry for the tardy reply but I was refering to the tradgedy that is this cover of the one and only great Yussef Lateef who wrote the Sparticus Love theme....I hate this garbage.

Well, you do realise that this is the major reason Terry got back into music, right? UK clubs played remixes of his stuff in the early 90s.

Strange idea to make a "groovy mix" of Terry Callier song witch is a mix of an Alex North's tune for Stanley Kubrick's film and of Emir Deodato's "Spirit of summer"... But the result is really good.If you're curious, listen de covers of "Spartacus love theme" by jazzmen as Bill Evans, Yussef Lateef or Maria Schneider. |
