I think what they did on this track was have Bernard Sumner record the vocal and then use pitchshifter to slow the the whole song down and make the vocal lower. You'll notice that the voice doesn't sound like Ian Curtis, but it does sound like Bernard Sumner. Perhaps someone else who knows more about how New Order recorded the song can clarify this.

what happened to New order, i mean blue monday is okay but this was "their" best, even though it was really curtis's songlike curtis was the lyricist right, maybe that was the difference between N.O.'s okay and J.D.'s great
