Istanbul comes from the Greek phrase "Is tin poli (Εις την πόλη)" which means "To the city". "The city" was a shortcut in the Byzantium for the Capital, which was Consτantinople (Κωνσταντινούπολη), which means "The city of Constantinos (The king)".So now I hope you learned that Turkish word that you defend so much is actually Greek as well.
