I listened to the clips of those pedals on Damage Control's website, and they aren't impressive. I never would have guessed that they're tubed, because they sound like a kid with baggy pants trying out a pointy-bodied LTD through a Line 6 Spider at Guitar Center on Saturday afternoon. The Solid Metal sounds like a Boss Metal Zone, which is not a compliment.

This looks like a good pedal. I have a Randall RG-300(solid state head) and i want to get that tube overdrive sound since its mainly a clean amp. Would this be a good choice or should i go with a tube head?

Why not try the MXR distortion pedal like Randy used?

damage control pedals sound better. Try the Solid Metal pedal or Demonizer and you will see.
