Ira Glass is awesome. You know it says a lot about a person who can consider and even be convinced by the opposite side of the argument. His radio show kicks ass, but what would you expect from someone as intelligent as this guy right?

innate means natural or existing from birth. object is a thing.I think they're trying to say that vegetables are natural things that exist from birth . not ENTIRELY sure what the point of that comment was, but vegetables aren't born, therefore cannot be innate. does joe190 mean inanimate? (that means not alive or not showing signs of life)
