This further contributes to the writers of the NT made the Jesus character fit IMO. I am skeptical Jesus ever lived myself. Yes that is true not all theists are crazy :PBut I can honestly believe you have at least one irrational beliefs too many. The only rational position on a subject without any evidence is skepticism. Every believer is by definition irrational.

OT = tells men how to sell and handle slaves. It tells you how much you can beat a slave and if you beat a slave and then he dies at a certain point its dandy. Its really worth reading for yourself :)NT = Jesus infamous line "Slaves obey your master" is another line supporting slavery. Not once in either book did they denounce slavery which is odd if slavery is really wrong... You would think god would have anticipated that?

i never read the Bible cover to cover..... soo what does the Bible say about slavery because you mentioned it before

huh lol... i can agree with you on the scientology partto clear up the stoning.... Jesus said."Let thy who come without sin, cast the first stone." he said that when ppl were throwin stones at a prostiitute....and u know what they did.... they put the stones downanyways it being inherently bad is your opinion....has it used for bad.... ofcourse..... but it still can be good...and is good (my opinon)..... but u know just because you believe in God doesn't mean your are close minded

Now of course there are good Christians and good Christian organizations... But there is no good reason for them to muddy up their good deeds with religion IMO. They shouldn't need the invisible carrot-on-the-stick to do good (heaven). Religion has brought nations together and some of Jesus teachings like, the Golden rule, are fantastic; but if you read the bible you will understand that we defiantly don't derive our morals from that tome. Religion has done far more harm then good though IMO.

But if you have ever read the old testament you would know its no place to gain morals even the new testament has some obvious flaws. I do think leaders like Hitler and certain popes used religion. I still do think religion is inherently evil though with concepts like original sin, slavery, apostasy, stoning, etc.Now Scientology that is a purely evil religion.

Except the German people at the time and the pope?! Do I smell "no true Scotsman fallacy?!"(look that one up)I am sure every religion has its individual reason. Some are like mythology. How do you explain the sun rising... Helios brings it around using his chariot. I think most of the Judo/Christian teachers are based on mythology. I think a good portion of religion is just trying to answer complicated answers without any knowledge or evidence.

Hitler may have been "Catholic" in his own head..... no one thinks he represents Christian teachingSo what you saying is that religion is one big evil organization made just to kill ppl ......and has not done one thing good....
U4godlike (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
Pretty hard not to make someone feel bashed upon when your belief is that all religion is most likely wrong.Hitler was a Catholic... He justified the holocaust with the Christian god.Really that didn't stop Hitler... Didn't stop the pope during the crusades... Inquisition... Irish Civil Wars... Witch Trials... And I could go on... Religion isn't going to necessarily fix someone. In fact it might just give them something to kill for, with zeal and fervor.

in other words, it's just that it seems that Atheists can promote their ideas without bashing a religion in the processHitler's speeches and quotes went both ways when it comes to Christianity, in one speech he'll say how God is guiding him, the next he bashes Christianity .... i'll give you a quote if u like but you can look it upi know he ddnt do it in the name of but maybe if he felt he had a God to answer to he would not of done such evil things
