All real New Orleans clarinettists played the Albert system. The tone is so much better.

Thanks for posting this. Is this all that survives of George's appearance on the BBC's Jazz 625?

In the early days, Lewis often played a metal Albert clarinet, these could be easily bought for a few dollars and the tone was surprisingly good.

Thanks for the info. I've seen a lot of older clarinets with non-standard key work, and I've never seen an Albert in person, so I wasn't sure.

Is Lewis playing an Albert system clarinet? The keys don't look "normal". |
