but if you use the land for livestock and convert it to vegetable farming, wouldn't that be better?also, grain produced is used to feed livestock, which in turn killed to feed us. why don't we eat grain directly, wouldn't that save space and other resources?

meat eating > demand for more meat > more livestock > in order to rear livestock, you have to cut down trees for space for farms > also, cows release methane > more carbon dioxide and methane in the atmosphere.
