Malicious intentions? I'll certainly tell you what I think, and if your justification isn't good, I'll tell you your witchdoctor religion is utterly ridiculous. It's not so much malice as puzzlement that someone apparently intelligent and in the process of becoming educated, in biology no less, would adopt witchdoctor superstition and then get defensive about it.

"Surely you have a justification? Still waiting. " Surely you don't have malicious intentions?

"Why should I even try with an additude like that? Trying to justify my belief in God to you would be like trying to justify my acceptance of evolution to a young earth creationist."No, it would be different-- I'm not asking you for proof of god, understand, because you wouldn't be able to provide it. I'm just asking you for your personal justification to adopt the creed of some witchdoctors from nazareth, 2000 years ago. That's all. Surely you have a justification? Still waiting.

"You seem to expect me to take you seriously, and treat you and your religion with respect. But I don't respect your religion, and I don't respect someone who would take that kind of stupidity on as part of their worldview. "Why should I even try with an additude like that? Trying to justify my belief in God to you would be like trying to justify my acceptance of evolution to a young earth creationist.

Right, but I'm still waiting for your justification for all the silliness. You seem to expect me to take you seriously, and treat you and your religion with respect. But I don't respect your religion, and I don't respect someone who would take that kind of stupidity on as part of their worldview. It just strikes me as completely out of left field, like if you told me you worship Mithra and then expected some sort of dispensation of courtesy or respectful tiptoeing on that basis.

"His (HTBK's) sort of fanatical raving is precisely the reason why christianity must be exterminated and replaced with reason. Christianity is founded on groundless lies. Therefore, it produces cognitive dissonance and madness in those who are sick with it. " - Carcosa"You're awfully combative for someone who believes in virgin births and talking snakes and who worships imaginary friends." - CarcosaOh, I have to say it... you're so much fun to talk to! I really am enjoying this...

Well, if you were Jewish, I would be hard-pressed to find any really repugnant things your church had done. But I'd still say that it's completely retarded, an institutionalized and societally imposed behavior pattern worthy of schizophrenics. You're awfully combative for someone who believes in virgin births and talking snakes and who worships imaginary friends. I'm sure any minute now you're going to come up with some real "pearls of wisdom" explaining your decision. Right?

"Your religion is absolutely retarded. "The fact that your response would probably be identical regardless of which religion I follow only exemplifies my previous post.

to the religious calander and soon they were able to grow rice successfully again and people stopped starving. But in this case and many other made up gods or ways of thinking like feng shui it helps people think about the world holistically and hopefully make them be a better person or have a better crop yield because of this.everything happens for a reason (that is not religious its just a mode of thought) however, sometimes that reason can be misguided especially when its fervent like HTBK.

most religions are extremely interesting and do have some original purpose though. (this next bit is paraphrased from douglas Adams, i didn't research it) for example the people of Bali used to consist mainly on growing rice and they would grow according to a very strict religious calander, however, when a bunch of moden farmers came over and saw this they said here why don't you try it this way, so for about 3 years they had great crop yield but it exhausted the soil so they decided to go back |
