I didn't name ANY reasons why Carter had only 4 years. And the extremism in the ME was started by the British, who put the Shah's father on the throne (a hedge against the USSR), and Eisenhower (a Republican) made things far worse in '53 when he forced the Shah to abdicate to his son, who favored US and British oil interests there. The Nixon Administration poured millions into Iran while the Shah's regime was at its most brutal. Republican Presidents caused the extremism that Carter inherited.

Disco can be included with that. But, what led to the 53 hostages is another story of the Peanut Farmer's failed presidency. He let extremisn run rampant in the middle east

"What did Jimmy Carter do (about the hostages in Iran)?" He (1) attempted a military rescue, which failed (no fault of his). He (2) acted prudently, rather than rashly, thus making sure that the 52 hostages weren't executed, as their captors threatened. And (3) Carter negotiated in good faith with Khomeni, but Khomeni was only interested in humiliating the US. And once Reagan was in power, what was his response? He began arming Saddam Hussein and Iraq, against Iran. You're an ignorant fool.

Didn't they take our hostages, because WE overthrew their democratically elected government with the CIA and installed the Shah of Iran? Even Ron Paul called this "blowback" due to us meddling in other countries' affairs. Of course let us not forget the Iran-Contra affair either. Or do we blame Democrats for that as well?

rakrobn, it all goes back to Jimmy Carter 1979 when the Iranians blindfolded our embassy workers in Tehran. (You probably werent born yet) Carter did NOTHING. Thats why Ronald Reagen was elected. We wouldnt be in the mess we're in right now.
