It's true that this song is pretty standard in structure but as a guitarist who practices everyday I can tell you writing those simples songs are not too easy. The guy probably had the idea of the song in his head for some funny reason and ended up writing it. When people responded to it by buying it until it was on the radio with the top 40, it's kind of not his fault even though eh wrote it. The first song I every really wrote was more complex than this but nobodies ever heard it lol

It has verse, chorus, bridge hmm singing, guitar, bass and drums. I guess that's how it is considered a song. I'm not sure myself.
