Yorkie, one last comment and I'm done with you. Since you're from Australia, you may not have seen "The Color Purple." If you haven't, I would strongly suggest you rent and watch it. If you've already seen it, I would highly recommend watching it again for two reasons. First, it showcases Oprah's enormous talent. Second, the movie shows what enormous struggles black women in America have had to overcome. And it makes Oprah's rise to the top of her business that much more impressive! G'day mate!

If you're really happy to see a president who isn't a complete downie (whatever that means), then you owe this overrated Oprah a little gratitude. Oprah was instrumental in getting Barack Obama's campaign off the ground by initially endorsing him. I'm still not sure where the hostility comes from, but Oprah is a lot of things but overrated is definitely not one of them. Maybe you need to do a little more research before passing judgement because so far you've been WAAAAAY off base!

Yorkie, I guess u have only one channel in Australia because over here in America where us so simple-minded folk live we've figured out that if there is someone on who we don't like we either change the channel or turn it off completely. As far as fascinating, show me another female minority who came from absolutely NOTHING to become a billionaire and one of the most powerful people in the world. I guess this rags-to-riches-power-and-glory story happens all the time in Australia and ur jaded.

And by saying her audience isn't that bright, I was not referring to black women at all, it was more an insult to Americans frankly. I can tell I'll get plenty of flack for that comment, but from what I've seen the country is so simple-minded. I'm sure there are plenty of inteligent americans, don't get me wrong, but some of the belief systems are pretty ridiculous. Anyway, I don't hate oprah, I just don't see what's so frigin fascinating? Sick of seeing her EVERYWHERE, ALL THE TIME.

ha ha, this makes me giggle. This racism crap has gone way too far, don't you think it's stretching things a bit? Firstly, I'm an Australian, so American politics don't really tickle me to say the least. Yes, I am happy to see a president on the stand that isn't a complete downie, like Bush, and I think it's a great step for the country, and the black community within.

I love your responses to yorkie btw.

One last thing, Yorkie, U r most definitely trying to be nasty; otherwise, U wouldn't pick on O's weight struggles, talk about her makeup or insult her audience's intelligence. For whatever reason, u r an O hater. Could it be sore-loser politics or plain jealousy? People often say that ur worst critics are often from ur own group. I would think as a female who is, by ur account, also 1/4 black u would be proud of her success whatever the reason. Take a good look in the mirror. Not pretty is it?

York, I read thru all of ur comments and I see a pattern here. First u call O overrated and compare her to Paris Hilton, like McCain did to Obama. Further, u use the "black card" crap, as do a lot of racists when trying to justify their racism. U insult her audience by saying they aren't bright when in fact u know that black women comprise a huge part of her audience. U sound like one of those disgruntled, Repub Palin supporters who are still angry that O refused to have Palin on her show.

Yorkheardt, I'm not sure what planet you're from but to compare Oprah to Paris Hilton is not simply an insult but proves that you have no taste. Paris got her attention and fame SOLELY from having a wealthy father and being pretty...nothing more. Oprah EARNED her way to the top of Talk TV in a very competitive arena and she did not succeed by nepotism or association. Furthermore, have you not seen her in the "Color Purple"? She gave an amazing Oscar worthy performance. So she has talent.

There are a lot they just don't get appreciated or recognized because frankly nobody cares unless they are on TV,famous or celebs. |
