Sephiroth was not a villain because he was manipulated and brainwashed after a mental brakedown. Jenova was the villain and Hojo helped her. Only reason why Sephiroth was easily manipylated was because he had doupts about his humanity.

And if must know, Kefka, Sephiroth,Ultemica,Garland,Gigliesh,and Matus are the real villians in my eyes. They all have different purpose and reasons why they evil. They separted from Kuja because they did what villians do. Plus, they not a crybaby.
