-kentrel- i have also been using an accoustic guitar with medium gauge strings, i haven snapped any strings yet but im sure it wont be long, my advice is to go and buy some light gauge strings... if you dont like the sound of light gauge on your good guitar then put them on your practice guitar. i think the whole point is just to get an idea of basic blues lead. eventually you should want to play this stuff on an electric with a nice distortion pedal anyway.

I have an acoustic guitar and I can't do these bends. I use Elixir medium strings, and I feel like I'm close to breaking the high E and B strings by trying to push them this distance. Elixirs are expensive so I'm not going to risk breaking them. I've already broken the Martin mediums on my cheap practise guitar.I've heard bending is harder on acoustic guitar. Are these licks still possible on acoustic?

If a string breaks consistently there are things to look into. Is it breaking in the same place every time? This may indicate a problem with a saddle, the nut, a string tree or the tuning post. Check to make sure that there are no rough spots or burrs on the saddle, string tree, tuning post. If so, remove burr & buff area smooth. Make sure the string does not bind in the nut slot. slowly pull straight up on the string, it it "pings" when popping out of the nut, it's too tight. Take it to a tech.

Do you have it on a different tuning?Do you try to bend it to meet the bass string?Do you put crappy strings on like slinky?

Well, it could be for numerous reasons. The most obvious would probably that your bending it too hard, when you do you can brake any string, but the high E is the thinnest so it more easy to break. Another factor is the type of strings you have. Having cheap strings doesn't help, strings aren't that expensive so go for the better kinds. Another thing is if your putting accoustic strings on electric guitar or vise versa. Hope that helps.

Justin,Absolutely everything in your video lessons are top notch. However, that mongoose at the end has got to go . That sound detracts from all the great tones you've created. Hope it's not your favourite pet. Yes, Riki Tiki Tavi was a great story. Cheers, G. Again, I'll be sending funds either way. Great Lessons, Man.!
