I too experienced this awe-inspiring work in Barcelona. It is so beautiful, the choir are brilliant. It was eerie to hear them talking and coughing as the piece began and then to be lifted by angels in the music. If you get the chance - see it!

I sung in this recording!!! Can't for the life of me remember which part! Slightly dissapointed the choir wasn't acknowledged...It's Salisbury Cathedral Choir (Both boys and girls, with normal six lay vicars and other men singing) Was an absolutely amazing experience!!I have a c.d of the Sixteen Choir directed by Harry Christophers - fantastic!

Each and every single of the forty independant voices (8 x 5-voice choirs) of the Tallis motet Spem in Alium is reproduced by its own loudspeaker, giving the audience a rare and exhilarating listening experience!

I heard this in a church in Barcelona and it just took me out of the room completely, out of my body even. Probably the most powerful experience I've had with a piece of art work and it reduced me to tears.

I agree with you emtube! I mean, some of the harmony in this piece is just heavenly...

The piece is entitled "Spem in alium", which are also the first words of the piece. |
