Africa will start to develop when it start using profits from raw materials and reinvest it in agriculture and infrastructure. Right now, Western corporations are the only beneficiaries, their profits go untaxed ('free trade', privatisation and deregulation), and governments have their national budgets supplemented with 'donor aid', which overall is about 1/4 of what Africa exports to the rest of the world. They don't need anyone go give them bednets. They need to keep their own money.

For sure you can say that we all need it, but instead of complaining about ourselves, we should see a little bit more, maybe read about whats happening in africa or in the andean region (where im from)... We need more professionals like him, for me, thats a fact

This 'dude' is a very smart man. He help lot of people in various countries.He helped Poland, Russia, Latin America.Poland is very successful country now.USA is collapsing and should take his advice now.

This dude Sachs should get off the treadmill and actually stop and think for awhile. What about all the kids that died of AIDS and Tuberculosis in Russia after his Shcok Capitalism? If you ever read anything by Jeffery Sachs, you would realize that he is not some socialist nut. He is advocating a short term program that has been proven to get people out of extreme poverty. He is a Supply-side guy. Just look at what he did in Bolivia and Poland.
