"Amelia" is probably Joni's finest and most enduring song. Maybe not as widely known as "Both Sides Now" or "Big Yellow Taxi" or "Woodstock", but certainly the tune that most closely chronicles Joni's essence and soul. In the soundtrack of so many lives, this rings true forever.

it was one of my favourites from Shadows & Lights. Which is one of my favourites live album ever. Joni at her best, which is somewhere only few artists can stay.

This song has always grabbed me like a vice. The clips of Amelia herself make it all the more poignant. The sense of aloneness for Amelia comes through so strongly, it makes my heart hurt.I have a daughter in college who travels around playing softball. She often rides through the night in a bus going from school to a game. The imagery of her travelling alone in the dark and this song make me full of emotion.
