Look...this was a tragic situation...It happened in my old hometown. BUT before you all feel bad for the "poor Amish". The screw their "English" employees over big time on wages and paying their "English" storekeepers and suppliers. Incest is rampant in that community as well as child abuse. While this was sad and hard to understand. The Amish ain't no better then any of us no matter the act they put on.

He stole 1000's from them too in credit cards and a 600 dollar gun to sell to a drug dealer to buy his friends some drugs. How do you prevent that? Well proper upbringing would have helped, but his grandma did not allow my sister to raise him, so now his life is a mess. you have any awnsers is this case? tough choices as I said.

There are some tough choices in this video. I wish there was some real awnsers. My sister's step-son was threadning to to kill them, and now is under strict house arest at his grandma's place.

I was Amish, so we all had simular shirts and hats etc, but not "uniforms" but we had our own problems. I would like my kids do be home schooled cause of this anyway, but I still don't see how this will solve anything...

It helps reduce social BS, it is one less thing the bullies have to think about. They will find any stupid excuse to push him, then he snaps. Also it puts everyone in a different mindset "I'm hear to work I can socialize at the right times later". It won't directly stop it but I think if you cut off anything that might incite descrimination than you are on the right track. So what if you are deprived of your individuality, you can be spontanious some other time.

Schools aren't schools anymore. Having metal detectors yeah it makes them safe but it sends a bad message towards schools, there's drugs in schools, fights it is like a jail the only difference is they aren't locked in a building all the time. They are just dealing with the outcomes. We need to turn it back into a school a learning environment. School uniforms will help I think.

Man, that whole "checking in" to highschool things sounds so crazy to me. Im from Canada and there is nothing like that at all where in from at any of the highschools. The doors are unlocked and you just walk in? Then again i guesse we dont have as big of a violance problem here, although we still do, and definately dont have a big problem with guns and un related incidents like you have down there, even though the per capita for guns here is higher then the states. Kinda makes you think.

Yeah things are getting strange with the video responses, it's driving me nuts! And with this, I just read that some of the Amish even went to the gunmen's funeral! I admire them to be so forgiving like that because I know I could never do the same. And you're right probably more cocooned and sheltered, which makes it sad that our world forced itself through. These people really are amazing and we could learn so much from them, and sometimes it's good to cry so you can feel better! *hugs*
