Really? Well, it is known that the Russians have lines of hunting Irish Setter that are very different for the Field-type lines we have in North America. In fact, they call the American field type Irish setter the "Red Setter." And it is somewhat different. It is much lighter in red.

Actually this particular dog brings UK/Ireland blood and no one drop of Russian one.Several days ago this dog got a CACT (Candidate to Russian FTCh by FCI rules)

I've heard of the Russian Irish setters. You have preserved the old breed!

А я-то думала, ну где же они нашли такие просторные поля в Америке? Вот бы мне так! А потом услышала русскую речь :)Люблю сеттеров, особенно ирландских. У афганы.

No, the hunting field. In the show ring, it's a fault. And not all goldens have it.

Your golden's move in show ring galloping? Wow! ;)
westphalianprinz (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
In working golden retriever, we get this gait because of the Irish setter in them. It's a fault in the show ring for goldens to move like this, but it's helpful in the field.
