After this, other countries cancelled a promised referendum and the EU Constitution was re-written as an "amending treaty" or a "reform treaty" and named "Treaty of Lisbon". On the basis of this deceit, they claimed that no referendums are necessary on the Lisbon Treaty. Ireland was constitutionally required to hold a referendum and on the 12 June 2008 the people of Ireland gave a resounding No to Lisbon. Yet this vote is not being respected and the rule of law is being ignored. The EU leaders agreed at the June 19-20 EU Summit that ratifications must go on. Moreover, no other government is asking the people. The Lisbon Treaty establishes a new "European Union" with joint citizenship - an EU "federal" State that is technically and politically empowered to centralize more power in Brussels. US is broke. Russia is in a part an european country and a good neighbour. If China keeps on spreading their toxic, cheap stuff or stolen items around the world the day will come they will not making so much business anymore. Europe stands very good without a treaty foisted upon the people. This treaty is about neoliberal economy, more taxes, giving up sovereignity, huge expenses in military, less money and freedom for everybody. What they did to us with the Euro? Think about that!

Most countries did very well with the EU - Ireland, Spain, France Germany, Benelux,Portugal, Greece and others - only Britain was exhausted by neo - conservatives and right-wing Labour. Britain has done really badly while others have done really well... On the other hand one could argue that the British are just a lazy bunch of crybabieswho are still lamenting about their lost Empire.

The EU is the greatest thing this continent has accomplished. A union of sovereign countries who act together to protect their common interests, but you stupid short-sighted pussies are too dumb to get the greatness of this project... When in 2050 the list of countries by GDP will be 1. China 2. USA. 3. India 4. Brazil 5. Russia 6. Mexico 7. Japan and your little stupid countries will be controlled by foreign power I will be celebrating.

Actually, they fear them, that's why they didn't allow some countries to vote. They're going to approve this treaty using the force and ignoring people choice. So finally Europe has become the Dictatorship that apparently they wanted to avoid after 1945. Funny...
