I highly recommend placing as much cash as you can into high-yield savings accounts at institutions like ShoreBank (Chicago), where capital is directed to projects with an environmental/green-sector focus. ShoreBank has been around for 30 years, and I work with them promoting their High-Yield Savings Account, which offers a 3.5% APY, FDIC-insurance, and online/phone tools. It's one of the highest paying savings accounts in the US. Learn more by googling "shorebank direct."

The founding fathers forced the idea of a middle-class to create a buffer zone between the elite and the poor. As it has already been said, no government is non-susceptible to corruption. The fight here, however, is the strength and support of a middle class. The system now only separates the elite from the poor, exponentially.

Now listen, you rich people, weep and wail because of the misery that is coming upon you. Your wealth has rotted, and moths have eaten your clothes. Your gold and silver are corroded. Their corrosion will testify against you and eat your flesh like fire. You have hoarded wealth in the last days. [James 5:1-3]

No government that has ever existed in the history of the world has ever done the right thing for the people. Don't expect anything to change in the near or far future. Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.
