God sent you the invite- but every time you sin, YOU remove Him from your friends list. But you've still got to learn that true love- God's love- isn't what they say it is in movies, isn't that flirting between b/f and g/f, and isn't driven by whimsical emotion. Love is that choice you make to befriend someone even when they've backstabbed you, cheated on you, disgusted you. And though we've done all these and more to God, He's still willing to accept us as His friends, if we invite Him back :)

So god created you, and presumably all of us, to give thanks for our creation, correct? If we do not "accept" god then god will DELIBERATELY allow us to suffer, correct? This concept is absurd, and if I were to submit to a deity it wouldn't be one with the emotional behavior of an attention-seeking high schooler. So god would delete us from his myspace if we didn't put him on our top friends. This is great.

Stanley Kubrick is a fucking genious.

I think at the most basic level, take the film as the envisioning of the ideas from Nitzsche's Also Sprach Zarathustra - To quote wikipedia:Nietzsche writes that "man is a bridge between the apes and the Supermen; a laughing stock". In an article in the New York Times, Kubrick gave credence to interpretations of 2001 based on Zarathustra when he said: "Man is the missing link between primitive apes and civilised human beings. Man is really in a very unstable condition."

The answers are merely hinted of in the movie. Especially when compared to the movie, the book explains a lot.

if you read to much into this movie you will come out with more questions than answers. Kubrick made this movie then never explained anything...ANYTHING. why you ask? because he didnt even know what he was doing. so all you people trying to find the meaning of this are on a wild goose chase because there is no answer. NOT EVEN THE GUY WHO MADE IT KNOWS WHAT IT ALL MEANS. accept it for what it is and take alot acid before you watch it |
