I love Patti Smith and Nirvana, but Patti Smith can't really cover Nirvana. Kurt and Patti's singing style are both kinda similar, but their music is a tad too different. I dunno, that's just how I see it.

This is a very good cover!I agree with dundaswest.

So fucking good. How can anyone say this is a bad cover? A cover is not an exact duplicate of an original song done by someone else. It's an artists interpretation of a song created by another artist. If you know anything about music you would know this. Not everyone has to like a song in particular, but doing so because it's not an exact cover from an original is just erronious and stupid. Thank you.

Hearing this song interpreted in an almost bluegrass way makes me wonder what songs from this era are we going to keep alive, say 50, 75, or 100 years from now. What is traditional American music going to look like then? Will this song and others like it become part of a traditional lexicon like Dylan, or Hank Williams, or the Dead or the Beatles? It's interesting to think about. I do know this: a song is only going to stay alive as long as people play it.
