I think it would be better to say arial looks like helvetica, and not the other way around which is what you seem to be implying.

It looks just like Arial font. An example of the Arial font is the title of this youtube video. It's identical to Helvetica...

Helvetica is a standard typeface on both windows and mac computers.

See thats why people are getting angry that its used so much, because they think its lazyness, i think its just a nice clean font, but thats everyones opinions =) |
