Yes, he is one of the few "shredders" who still sound melodic, instead of like running scales. I was pleasantly surprised to find Buckethead sort of fits that category too.

I envy his playing ability and how he can solo without making songs sound a-melodic.I do get bored of it after a while, unfortunately. =/ Does he do stuff with other bands? Anything with lyrics?

Look at a lot of the stuff Steve Vai does, he's amazing, and he goes absolutely CRAZY with the whammy bar at most times. He picks up the guitar by it, and starts swinging it around and spinning in circles, while making a good sound. Seriously, he's amazing with it.

If you yank the whammy bar really hard upwards, strings WILL break, also, it'll make it go out of tune in the same process.
