And one more thing. Frankly. rocksnobish disco haters have short & selective memories. They forgot how much their precious rock music has been bashed and hated back in the 50's & 60's often with the same bullshit reasons they're dissing, techno or rap today. The world would be a (slightly)better place if people stopped taking their own personnal tastes for a reality.BTW. Like Funk/Soul Rock music is inpired by jazz and R&B.Goodnight and let's dance.^^

Dissing a genre because is inspired by another genre is hardly an argument. you know funk/soul is inspired by jazz and rythm&blues right? And for the 90's pop invasion i don't remember seenig any overreactive reponse such as Backstreet Boys & Britney's album burnings.

As goofy and retardet the music was yes it does. Disco was shoved down everyone's throat at such a fast pace people got sick of it. Like the teen pop explosion of the late 90's people got sick of it. Disco was nothing more than a MUTATION of funk/soul

its a well known fact the beatles were never good musicans, they even admitted it...
slapmyfunkybass (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
oh yeah, rock and roll with its three chord progressions all built on 12 bars... oh yeah, thats the way forward, lets get rid of 90% of harmony then, i say it again and its true, this happened cos rock musicians dont understand a funk groove and cant play one, anyone can play rock, disco was a challenge, rather than learn it they denied it - ignorant losers

how can you possibly believe that. Are you saying the bee gees were better than the beatles. ugh no wonder everyone hated you
Ihavearubbersoulforu (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
rap is just liek disco. They over play it to death. Rock and roll is true music for young people
Densaku (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
Yes. Disco was everywhere back then. I can understand some people was sick & tired of it.But... does it justify such act of cultural bigotry? However comparing this to nazi book burnings deserves a big Godwin Point.
inlikeflynny (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
Hmmm, it may just be me, but isn't this rather reminiscent of Nazi book burning rallies?

For the most part, you are correct. However, disco is the exception. Disco sucks. It did in the 1970s, and it does today. Disco will always suck. It's like a nuclear powered vacuum cleaner. It sucks HARD. Other music forms are just taste, but disco is the universal suckage. |
