Hooverphonic - Club Montepulciano (Liesje Sadonius Version)
La versione cantata dalla precedente vocalist degli Hooverphonic, Liesje Sadonius, del loro popolare singolo "Club Montepulciano". Il pezzo cantato da Liesje è apparso su numerose copie dell'album "Blue Wonder Power Milk" (1999), anche se per il singolo e il video ufficiali è stata usata la versione cantata dall'attuale vocalist Geike Arnaert, comparsa peraltro su altrettante copie di "Blue Wonder Power Milk". Ho uppato entrambe le versioni su YouTube. Per quella di Liesje, oltre ad alcune sue foto con e senza gli Hooverphonic, ho usato immagini tratte dalle sua apparizioni nei video di "Inhaler" e "2Wicky", tratte dall'album "A new stereophonic sound spectacular" degli Hooverphonic, di cui fu la cantante prima di abbandonare il gruppo nel '97. I decided to upload Liesje's version of the popular Hooverphonic hit because I realized how much confusion there is about this song... hope I can clear some doubts:-)As many of you will know, Liesje left Hooverphonic around '97. In '98 "Blue Wonder Power Milk" by Hooverphonic came out, feauring lead vocals by Geike Arnaert and Alex Callier. Anyway, lots of album copies (like mine) feature "Club Montepulciano" with Liesje's lead vocals, while the single version is obviously sung by Geike Arnaert (although some people can't see it's her, and not Liesje, singing). On the other hand, some fans got perplexed and curious when finding that the studio version of their BWPM copy was sung by Geike, while booklets said it was Liesje (or vice versa). Geike also appears on the official video as a brunette (!:-) with Alex, Raymond and Hooverphonic former member Frank Duchene (I uploaded the official video as well). Still confused?;-) Well, although I have to confess I like Geike's version much better, I also do love Liesje's voice, so I made this clip using footage from her appereances on "2Wicky" and "inhaler", old shots with Hooverphonic and more recent pictures of her... and of course playing her (very good) rendition of "Club Montepulciano". Her voice is so heavenly... hope you enjoy!

just look at it this way, anything Liesje touches turn to gold!!! Shes heavenly, simple as that. ;) Nothing against Giekes version, but this is beautiful as well.

I don't know man...I guess I feel like this version is less...dreamy? Sensual? Maybe it's the smoothness of the delivery, like you said. But it;s all personal preference

So I've been listening to Liesje's version all this time. I got a rubber blue promo case from a radio station back when this album came out. Having heard Geike's version, I prefer Liesje's smoother delivery. Geike's timing seems a little off and she cuts through the mix a bit more, which explains why everything after Liesje left doesn't have the same kind of hypnotic effect "A New Stereophonic Sound Spectacular" had on me. |
