thank you for this comment, it does send a shiver down my spine and bring out a cold sweat watching this kind of film. as a more modern day F1 fan (circa 1991) i am just thankful that i have only witnessed tragedy at one race meeting, as i often say though let's not get complacent...

Watching videos like this makes me grateful that racing has become safer. As sad as I am that Jochen is no longer here, it was his death, and the deaths of men like Schlesser, and Clark, that has made the sport as safe as it is today. I cant imagine the horror that Stewart felt, despite reading his autobiography and learning about the incedent, I cant fathom how he must've felt.

Just saying Clark was a great one and he died in a Lotus. The original post made no differentiation on circumstances - just on being a great driver and dying in a Lotus. Clark fit those criteria too and I felt he deserved to be remembered also.In fact, all three deaths were quite different in most every way. Peterson was the only one to die in an F1 race as Clark died in an F2 race while Rindt died in a practice session (as this video shows). All 3 were certainly great!

Damn it... sorry, must have been thinking somehow about Ronnie Peterson's crash 8 years later. Again in a Lotus.

The accident was in the parabolica... watch the truck that took the car... it is not a chicane..
