The 914/6, unlike the 914/4, was built in the Porsche factory in Stuttgart and is every bit a "real" Porsche. Yes, the early Euro 914s had a "VW-Porsche" badge, but that reflects a partnership with VW where the 914-4 was to be the next generation Karman Ghia. That deal fall apart with the passing of VW's chairman Nordhoff - the man behind the deal at VW.Notably - the car in this video is not an original factory 914-6. An astute observer will detect the discrepancy at 1:55-56.

Put down the crack pipe... the four cylinders came with a 1.7l Fuel Injected engine, then a 1.8l (twin carbs for Europe only, USA models had Bosch L-Jetronic EFI), then a 2.0 with the same EFI as the 1.7 - Bosch D-Jetronic.

Take a look at the badge on the back of a European 914/6 and see what it says... I think you'll find it says "VW Porsche 914-6".

the 4 cyclinders came with a 2 or 2.5 liter motor...the made carburated ones, then they changed them to fuel injected...
