shredicon... i think u prefer vai because he has a more rock/metal type of vibe.. I like greg howe's playing better because he twists those time signatures so hard.. vai sounds great..but howe sounds more mature..my personal opinion only.I am dan. vocalist for SIMPLE EXPERIMENT.. 3rd place asian beat competition 2003

Starting your post with "dude dont be a nutthugger"and ending it with "Howe all the way..." does'nt do much for your credibility.Also, you cannot seriously say that Greg Howes improvisation spot on this track was anything more than a n00b would do. Seriously, listen to it. I was surprised. Despite the freedom afforded by the rest of the band pausing, he implies no interesting harmony whatsoever. His technique sucked too.Not to say he can't play.Vai would have sounded better.

Mature musicians must always be modest and compliment others, and I'm sure Vai may have said Greg Howe is a talented musician.Vai is no joke though, just listen to any of his albums (as it appears you have not).To the point however, I was not stating either one was a better musician, but that Vai's style would have really fit well in that solo spot, and to my ears at least, Vai's melodic, musical and expressive vocabulary perhaps would have sounded more pleasing.
