White is all the colors combined, and black is the absence of colors, speaking of course in physics.

The rainbow effect only applies to white light. When one is talking about simply color the white, such as say, a white blouse, it is the absence of all colors.

wrong... white is all colors combined that why when u shine white light through a glass prism all the colors split up, causing the rainbow effect

White is the rejection of all colors, whereas black is the absorbtion of all colors. Light determines color. When something is a color, it is all colors, except the color it appears to be. The reason it appears to be the color that it isn't, is because it repels that color, thus reflecting it. Black reflects all colors, thereby muddling it's appearance. |
