I´m Portuguese. One part of us are Arab.We use some hundreds words with arabe origine. The Islamic influence exists today in portuguese culture, but it is only a part of ours culture. As portuguese, we are a mix made by Celtics, Iberians, Lusitanos, Fenicians, Greecs, and more recentley, Romans and Visigots. During the islamic ocupation, he have pay taxes to the muslams, but, as natives we had remained different, with little integration in the culture of the occupant.

Definitely there is that beautiful Arab lament, hunting, so romantic. You can hear the castañuelas in the background. At 3:25 the song and their voices turn electrifying!

That's hardly surprising -- the Moors conquered the Iberian peninsula. They weren't expelled from Spain until the Reconquista was complete.

Hoi Therasia. Im not try to offend anyone hierplsssss.I know only Lisbon and there I've seenthings that reminds me Arab culture everywhereI began to like FADO when I knew portugal andbkoz of this song as well.I like this Portuguese singer and I LOVE LUsitania-Portucales-Portugalia...hahah

That's true I am from Algarve (Tavira) and we are cald (mouros) arab, and it is really nice because we have arab presence everywhere... Agree with you ^_^

BRASVIDEO..Thats what I was trying to explainI DID NOT say that Portuguese are Arab but welistening to the music we feel that. Iam halfBrazilian(Rio) and half Lebanese and I know what Im talkin about.I lived in Lisbon and there is a place MOURARIA where we still see ARAB presence.Dont forget Acucar(sugar),azeiteOlive oil,azeitona,alcachofra,alfazema...are arab.
