Being lebanese canadian I would just like to say keep religion to your god damn self. Being winy little bitches isn't gonna win you brownie points with the big guy. Oh and while I'm at it I would gladly fight against sharia law or any other repressive ideology creeping its way into the political system. If it ain't broke don't fix it.If you miss your precious sharia law then go back where you came from. Otherwise shut the hell up and be grateful for every opportunity you have been given here

I'm not disputing anything that you say. It's probably intellectual laziness as much as anything that people here, when surveyed about heritage say they're Christian. That's partly I think because Canadians don't define themselves by faith that much, so it isn't some big deal, whereas in the U.S. if you're baptist or pentacostal or whatever it really matters. I'm just saying the influence of religion over here is really nothing like the 35% would suggest.

Don't get uppity with me honey. If you and others allow yourself to be represented as catholics when you're not, that's YOUR fault.

Listen brother, I'm with you as far as the Catholic church goes, I swam free of the cult myself as a young child. I'm just saying the stats don't really reflect the working reality. My family of 8 people would probably show up as Catholics on a survey but not one of us is even remotely religious. In our Ontario elections last year, the front runner (a conservative) proposed full funding of religious schools and thus lost his lead and got destroyed in the election. I love my country for that.

According to Wikipedia 12 million Canadians are catholic out of a total population of about 33 million. To me, the catholic church is a conservative institution which condemns gayness.

Steevvee boy, I'm a Canuck and we're really not all that religious. Trust me, if someone starts going on with the "Praise Jesus" shit around here, they get a lot of raised eyebrows. We have churches that are being re-fitted for condos due to declining enrollment. Thank God, is all I can say (oops!)

I agree, I generally vote conservative but I'm still an atheist. Our 2 main parties are very much the same, centre-ish type parties at least when compared to the Americans, even the democrats. For example, even when we had conservative majorities, we didn't have capital punishment, or abortion outlawed. And liberals will readily slash budgets and conservatives are happy to tax and spend. As my dad used to say: "the only difference between the 2 parties is who's in and who's out."

God bless you Mr. Condell, even though I'm not religious and I get the feeling you aren't either.

I am Canadian and I agree with this 100%. Some people here feel the same way, albeit a minority, it's a start. |
