That's what we have the Bible for, this song is an excerpt from Psalms.

I love how people always rush to say "it needs to be sung in the language it was written in." That isn't always true. You should atleast consider the choir who is singing the piece and your audiance. Some choirs can handle singing in German and some can't. Some audiances wouldn't be able to fully appreciate the work if it weren't sung in English. For all of you who rush to say that the work should be sung in it's origional text..think about this..Should we not have translated the Bible into Eng?

I agree as well. This is just not the same in English. Although it is nice to know what the words mean...that is what we have a libretto for.

I love this song. We sang this for All-District Choir last week and it was beautiful. Though it can be a little tough for sopranos that aren't used to some of those really high notes, like me!

Needs to be done in German-It flows better. I do speak English and am not an Immigrant, so don't take this the wrong way...it was the language it was originally written in.

The video of the inside of the chancel, chapel, and sanctuary really made the meaning behind the Psalmist's words come alive to me. Thanks for making my day!

Keep trying XQueenAmyX - should be better next time. Stick with alto if that's your vocal range. The Brahms is indeed a pretty song. Thanks for watching and listening. |
