I read up on this song a bit. I think he was talking about himself. He and January Jones had just broken up and he was still hurt by it, and I think he was singing it to her. They're just friends now.

even without really understanding it, it's still such a GORGEOUS song!!! god TRULY blessed josh with talent, what a GIFT to be able to INSPIRE millions of hearts, thousands of mourners, sappy hopeless romantics, couples in love, people of ALL ages from all different backgrounds can somehow FIND something in his music...i don't know if josh writes his songs, but it touches people somehow...magically...keep it up, josh!! lots of hugs your way!
