Exactly, that and it's purposely being used for that. As long as you pay attention to B. Spears and M. Jackson, you won't have time to worry what the government is doing behind closed doors. Ask people who won the NFL game this weekend, most people know. Ask about the martial law prep that Bush and congress passed by Oct. 1, they have no clue. They can tell you what shows were on last night, but as for how our economy works, no clue. They actually think the 700 billion is "available" from budget

well its all just technology really isnt it. we're as mentally sedentary now as we are physically. you never hear about that in the 24 hour news though because why would they criticise their own product? wouldnt make business sense. they just pump this polluted information into our homes and we absorb it without realising it. oh well.

Vicarious is about how people watch real-life tragedy on TV and supposedly enjoy it, but are unwilling to admit it.

Mainstream media. It's dulled our senses to the point where your answer becomes, yes, we have to. Unfortunately, being shown is all we understand anymore. We've become like kids with books, choose the picture book over the books with words. If it doesn't have pics, we kind of ignore it. Only a few amount of us still have vast attention spans.

are our imaginations so redundant at this stage that we need this kind of shocking visual rhetoric to awaken us from our stupor of apathy? as bob dylan said: a song is anything that can walk by itself. who you gonna trust bob or tool? just saying the song should be good enough on its own merit.
