I am not sure if he stole it or not...but this is a very common joke actually. My mom used to complain all the time that she raised me, fed me or whatever, and then when I was being filmed at a special date or some shit like that I would wave at my dad...pretty standard situation

I've heard the same punchline from many different comedians. Anyone ever stop to think it's a fairly easy joke to come up with? Billions of people in the world, and apparently it's impossible for two people to come up with a "Hi Mom" joke.
