Ok...according to Phil, this song is about a young man who has developed an obbession for a particular prostitute. She's not that interested in him and it's causing him to lose his mind...to point where he is thinking about hurting or even killing her.Phil was inspired to write this song after reading that book "The Moon's A Baloon". Contrary to some popular myths, it's not about abortion or anything to do with his mother.

This song is not about a tribute to his Mom. "Mama" is slang for an older prostitute / hooker. So he is singing about his obsession with an older prostitute. Not his mother. Hope that helps clear things up.
