I understand where you're coming from also. I'm a songwriter/musician and i hope to heaven that i won't ever cave to financial temptation & sell my musical compositions to hip-hop producers. I couldn't live with myself if i were to just allow profanity to defile my works. Not to say that all the rap producers out there are worthless - but for sure the Music Industry only support what's hot to sell. And unfortunately, profanity & sex is what's hot today. We need spiritual consciousness to build.

Well, what about songs like "this cant be life" "I can" "I had a dream" "Thru the fire" These are all songs with alot of meaning and there are tons more....I see where youre coming from tho..I sampled alot of people without even knowing who they were...But when it comes to Covers I usually never know who made the first version...so

I answered your comment question made. I also further to educate why 99% of the hip hop's SAMPLING brings harm to the original artists. Elaborating on the selfish deeds of these modern day "Rapper/Producers" will hopefully open the eyes of FEW who may have been deceived. At least with "Covers" the listener has a chance to be introduced to the original artists who made it. Hip hop artists/Producers on the other hand don't care. A new sample to captivate minds & make money spoils to blind them.

Now youre going way off subject..your original arguement was "Bitin" and wether or not artist today have the talent and creativity to make their own music without samples.. A Cover is the Ultimate form of Bitin...I can tell you are just a biast fan of old school R and B....but I like both

No i wouldn't consider performed "Covers" by artists as "Bitin." Simply because the connotation of the songs LYRICS are not disrespectfully altered. It's TOTALLY disrespectful when rap artists musically sample well respected songs that had some sincere creative meaning, then taint it by jibberish profanity. Example! If a song as important as Marvin Gaye's "WHAT'S GOING ON" happens to be sampled by a rapper who's lyrics pertain to profain partying sex cars b*tches etc. then that's wrong.

Alot of people from the seventies took entire songs and called them "Covers"...like when Ottis Reding covered sam cookes "Change is gonna come" so were they "Bitin"

no thats what music is about taking what has already been done and making its modern. music changes form in the mind of a new generation. if i was to say sampling was bitin that would mena they took the whole song and didnt switch it up or anything

I hope the on hearers of these samples don't find it too cool that these hip-hop producers rip original composed music from other artists. I grew up in the late 70's and early 80's and copying somebody else was called "bitin." Bitin' somebody else's style branded one with a crown of DISGRACE to never again show their face. Where is the true natural creativity? Is music dead? Does this mean the most-High (God) doesn't communicate with US as he did yesterday with our ancestors? Who stole the soul? |
