ice speed skating is well-established in olympic winter games for a long time now (since the beginning of the winter games) - so why not take inline speed skating as the "summer" olympic games counterpart to ice skating ?

the international olympic committee is actually considering to have speed skating in london 2012. the sport needs to fulfill 3 criteria- sufficient t.v. audience, equal scope for both men and women, and no serious risk of injury. it's a topic of heated debate right now, but i think speed skating will make it. it's a very exciting sport and i'm sure it will be one of the main attractions if it makes it there. let's hope for the best.

Actually I'm pretty sure it's at least 56 minutes because Hedrick skated that at the North Shore Inline marathon back in 2000 I think.

actually, the video is of worlds, banked tracked nationals, indoor nationals. It is the United States as a whole, and does not showcase one team or another. However, Team Flordia has a lot more screen time than anyother team. |
