"Lay off" WAS necessary, as I felt I was being attacked! Second of all, how it "cutting" to ask somebody what their idea of humor is? I'm not ashamed of the things I find to be funny- and I NEVER said I couldn't appreciate some of these guys' work (read nearly every posting I've left on here, including the first). Read what I write before you start freaking out that I 'dissed' your beloved "who's on first" sketch.

I wasn't trying to be a defense attorney, and I don't believe the expression "LAY OFF" was necessary. I was simply pointing out the era in which the routine was created and how it represents the way people think even today. If I wanted to be cutting, I could have asked what your idea of humor was and taken off from there. There are plenty of people and routines I don't find funny either, and people say the same thing to me I said to you. I don't always like Laurel and Hardy, and people disagree.

That's ok, I knew there'd be a few of you out there would be intolerant of someone disliking something that you like and voicing their feelings. I said right off the bat that I expected it. It's ok.

Look, in my initial comment, I DID give some credit to wit. However, in MY opinion and in MY taste in humor, I'm not a fan. It is OK for me to say that. Lay off, you're not Abbot & Costello's defense attorney.

You're entitled to your opinion, but you have to remember Abbott had a very difficult job, being the straight guy. He was considered the best straight man in Hollywood. These guys were timeless and hysterical!

I can watch this 15,000 times, and it's NEVER irritating! These guys are timeless! I showed this to my seventh grade students and had them paraphrase because that was the lesson of the week, and the kids were roaring with laughter!

Here comes the first thumbs down for that comment.
