Pernell is without question one of the masters of the sport. Floyd might be a little more powerful but I doubt it. Their range of skills are almost identical. Amazing. THAT would be the ultimate fight ever. He's one of the all-time great American athletes. It's a shame he doesn't receive the credit he deserves

Pea, easily, i consider him like Floyd but 25% better in every aspect, bar maybe power.

sweet pea wasnt a bitch. alot of fighters fight easy oppenents to build KO numbers. sweet pea fought the best fighters in his era. he fought Juilo Ceasar Chavez(halloffamer)Buddy McGirt twice(Halloffamer)OscarDelaHoya(Halloffamer)FelixTrinidad(Halloffamer)Azumah Nelson(2time world champ)pea was the smaller man in most of his fights so he used his stamina, defense, ring skills and punch accuracy to win his fights.

He actually had pretty good power, but he just didn't go after people...kind of like Winky Wright. the guy actually has a lot of power if you look at his older fights, but he doesn't sit down on his punches because he fights better if he calms down and throws quicker, less powerful punches.Whitaker had power, but he only used it when he needed to(like against Hurtado), and didn't risk using it if it left him open to getting knocked out. never stopped in his career. |
